*Hoodia Gordonii is a spiny succulent plant found in the arid parts of Namibia and South Africa.  It is mainly used as an appetite suppressant.

The traditional Khoisan people include the San Bushman, Nama and Damara. They lived in this area for thousands of years and have used Hoodia without any known side effects as an appetite suppressant, thirst quencher, aphrodisiac and energy booster. They also used Hoodia as a cure for abdominal cramps, hemorrhoids, tuberculosis, indigestion, hypertension and as an antidiabetic (Masson).
This is why Hoodia is called the miracle plant from the Kalahari Desert.
